As you might be aware, Deepika Padukone will soon be seen playing Kapil Dev's wife Romi Bhatia in '83. She will be seen opposite her real-life hubby, Ranveer Singh. She recently shared a still from the film and tweeted, "To play a small part in a film that captures one of the most iconic moments in sporting history has been an absolute honour!83 for me is an ode to every woman who puts her husband's dream before her own..."

This tweet hasn't gone down well with a lot of people, who criticised Deepika for glorifying women's sacrifice. Twitter user Rituparna Chatterjee wrote, "Glorification of women's sacrifice is exactly what's wrong. It instantly makes villains of women who put their own dreams ahead of their husband's."

Another user Laveena Iyer said, "We don't need women to put their dreams on the back burner. Agree the movie is set in the '80s but her sacrifice is not her achievement. Romanticising the idea of a woman behind a man is common practice in Indian cinema, please let's not glorify it for the sake of promotion."

Talking about her small but crucial part in '83, Deepika told Bombay Times, "To be able to play a small, but significant part in a film that captures one of the most iconic moments in sporting history has been an absolute honour. Through my mother, I've seen closely the role of a wife. Wife plays in the success of her husband's professional and personal aspirations. '83, for me, in many ways is an ode to every woman who puts her husband's dream before her own."
